To Maine!

Hi guys! Happy Monday! How did the day go? I hope it wasn’t too Monday-esque. :)

As promised, I have a bit of a recap of my Sunday for you. You see, for about over a year now, I have been close friends with a lovely lady by the name of Jen Dean. You may remember that Jen and I did a collaborative post back in March on the topic of empowerment.

Anywho, despite miles of separation (Jen and her husband, Jason, currently live in Arkansas), Jen and I have become close friends and regular pen pals. Jen is amazingly intelligent, funny, and caring and always seems to know just what to say. In short, I’m very thankful to have met her.

And, as of Sunday, I have actually met her in person! Jen and Jason decided to summer in Maine (hehe) and being that Maine is a relative hop, skip and jump for me, we made plans to meet up for brunch. Jen picked out a wonderful restaurant called The Porthole in Portland, Maine.

The Porthole has an old Maine charm that you would definitely expect. It is located right on the waterfront of Casco Bay and gives you the feeling of being somewhere entirely timeless and special.

For my meal, perhaps intoxicated by the overwhelming Maine flavor, I went with the special: Lobster and asparagus frittata. Um, yes.

The lobster, asparagus, egg and goat cheese was heaven piled on top of a mix of sweet and regular roasted potatoes. I’m so glad I went with the lobster.

Despite its deliciousness, the meal was most definitely outshone by the company. I’m so appreciative that Jen and Jason made the time to meet up during their vacation. Yay for that. :)

Do you like lobster? Have you ever been to Maine? Want to move there with me?

My grandparents have a house in Wells, and there's a place to get fresh lobster literally across the street. I don't eat it anymore but I have to admit when I did that it was fresh :-)

My mom moved to Maine when she was a senior in high school. She owned a small cabin up there (near Augusta) for years and we used to go every summer when I was a kid. I was bored then but now I wish she still had it.

Wow, that looks amazing! Of all meats, I would say lobster and shrimp are my favorite in flavor and texture even though I don't eat them anymore. Sounds like an incredible brunch Em!

Em, this was a lovely post. I do love you, friend. And I anxiously await our next rendezvous.

PS - I also love that you said we "summered in Maine". That has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?
