Hey guys! How was your weekend? It was absolutely beautiful here and I was so lucky to have filled my couple of days with friends and adventure (and food!).
Yesterday, I went out on a sailboat ride with some of my classmates from grad school. It was really neat – we made reservations to take a ride on the Thomas E. Lannon schooner out of Gloucester. The boat is privately owned and operated by a family of wonderful sailors. It was built in Essex, MA (the next town over from where I live) in 1997.
While we had the opportunity to help with raising the four sails, our group held tight, enjoyed the sites and some cold beverages. Here are some shots from the sail:
After our three hour two hour tour, we were more than ready for dinner and made our way to Rocky Neck. Rocky Neck is home to a really active and pretty neat artist community. There are a number of amazing artists there who work on and sell their art. I even purchased a great print of a painting by artist E.J. Lefavour that just makes me happy…
The studios are right on the water and interspersed with a couple of great restaurants including where we went, Madfish Grill. The views from the restaurant are pretty unbelievable. We were seated right on the water’s edge…
I think it definitely made my wine and crab, avocado, tomato and lettuce sandwich taste better. :) In reality, the sandwich was great just on its own. The crab meat was tender and fresh and Portuguese sweet bread was used. Yum.
Stay tuned for my Maine recap…hint…it involves a very delicious and Maine appropriate brunch and great company. :)
Have a great night, guys!

Gorgeous sailing photos!!
Wow! That looks like a lot of fun. Glad you enjoyed the weather :)
Still so envious! Can we become sailors, please?
Also, love the print!
