TGIF

Happy Friday! I'm so looking forward to being able to sleep in and relax a little this weekend. I feel like I'm always going! I am planning on heading home tonight to make a nice dinner, get some of my paper done (or hopefully finished) for Wednesday and then bed! Its funny how sometimes the simplest things are so refreshing. :)

Yesterday I got kind of swamped and so didn't get to do a second post - sorry about that! I'll get you up to speed in no time, though!

For lunch yesterday, I had some Amy's Alphabet soup along with a whole wheat sandwich thin and a scoop of hummus. I always feel like a little kid making this soup but it really is tasty.

I had an apple not too long after my lunch - another Gala which was delicious.

Snack was an on the fly trailmix made with the last of my heart to heart, some raisins and cashews. Yummers. I like this type of snack because it takes a while to eat!

I went out for a run last night because it felt really warm out and was still light out when I got out of work at 5! I'm so pumped about having more daylight. :) I did my normal 4.2 mile route in 34:30. I was taking it slow and easy since I was feeling a bit tired and didn't want to hurt my shins. It felt good to get out, definitely. After my run, I did my 3 sets of 20 crossed leg crunches, 3 sets of 16 raised arm push ups, 3 sets of 40 second plank, and 2 sets of 10 shoulder/bicep curls with 10 lb free weights.

After my workout, I met up with Brian who was still working. (Work has been really brutal for him lately and its been so tough on him - 12-16 hour days have become the norm!) He had plans to play some music with a couple of friends at 7:30 so I decided to go along because we haven't been able to spend much time together lately. I was STARVING while I was waiting for him to finish up so I stole some of his Kashi Go Lean with vanilla soy milk. (I didn't even wait to take a picture, so you're looking at the very last of my snack.)

When we left work, we picked up some thai food at the local restaurant. No matter what you get there, its always good. Brian got veggie pad thai, our friend Jake ordered regular pad thai, and I had my fall back - Basil Shrimp with broccoli, mushrooms, bell pepper, onion, peas, and huge leaves of fresh basil all served with an awesome sauce and rice. Yum. :) Once we got to Jake's place, we sat down to eat and I had a small glass of white wine... followed by a small glass of red.

For dessert, I couldn't resist this homemade mini carrot cupcake. It had delicious cream cheese frosting and craisins inside. Mmmm...

This morning, Brian had to get to work early so I headed in with him and went to the gym. I did 20 minutes on the Arc Trainer, level 5 weight loss routine. I really worked up a sweat and was huffing and puffing. After that, I did 20 minutes on the stairclimber, level 8 aerobic routine. I must have been tired because I kept looking at the time until I could get off (despite having a new magazine to read!).

I was definitely ready for breakfast after my workout and made myself some oats with banana and barney butter. I'm out of soymilk so I used some low fat milk from the caf. I wasn't sure how I would like the oats with milk instead of soy, but I definitely enjoyed it. This might be a new thing for me. :) I also had an earl grey tea to try and avoid coffee today, but I ended up going back to the caf for a small cup of pistachio ice cream flavored coffee with low fat milk and one splenda anyways (it was an early day!). The pistachio ice cream flavor sounds weird, but its awesome!

I didn't have anything on hand for lunch today (other than a lone slice of my all natural 9 grain bread) so I went to the caf to make a salad.

I really loaded up today, here's the breakdown:

Lettuce
Tomato
Red Onion
Bell Pepper
Carrot
Cuc
Craisins
Gorgonzola Cheese
Hard Boiled Egg
Hummus
Tebouleh Salad
Small amount of FF Raspberry Dressing
Black Pepper

I also toasted that lonely piece of bread to dip in the hummus. I love the combo of the cheese and the sweet dressing and craisins. This was a great salad. :)

I hope that you guys have a great day - we're so close to the weekend! :) Be back laters!

Em

Mu gym has an arc trainer, but I haven't used it yet. I'll have to try it out, sounds like it was a great workout for you!
